Last night, my seven-year-old sat on the sofa mindlessly playing a game on some device.
While he was playing and I was cooking, he stopped and said, “Mom, I really love you.” My heart melted. What an unexpected, sweet moment. He wasn’t going to bed, and I wasn’t headed out the door. Those are our usual “I love you” moments. This one was special, spontaneous and sincere. I hope I never forget it.
When was the last time you interrupted the rhythm of whatever you were doing just to tell the Lord, “Father, I really love you”? Maybe when I’m in the midst of worship or mid-prayer, I’ll say “I love you.” But randomly? Spontaneously? That rarely happens.
Today, let’s take a moment and just whisper, “Lord, I love you.”
